He remembered NOTHING! Like a whisper in the wind, his mind was a blank. He had knowledge of a lot of things, yet, his mind raced, and he could not remember ANY of it. He knew how to fly the ship he was in...he recognized the controls..but he STILL couldnt remember even his NAME.
He scanned the console, looking for something that could possibly tell him who he was. He looked over his body, and noticed a set of ID tags. They read 'Matango, Adieumus'. The language was even difficult to read. His two tails twitched nervously, and wrapped more tightly around his waist. He looked over his outfit, all black, and very comfortable. The T-shirt was soaked with sweat, he was perspiring heavily, due to the entry through the atmosphere, and the ensuing heat. He popped the shattered canopy, and stepped outside.
The ship was still smoking, a shattered hulk. The debris trail snaked out almost a mile behind the wreck, and it too was still smoking. The furrows of dark earth marked the entry of Matango's ship, and where it had come to rest against the base of a large hill, the nose was shoved into the ground about fifteen feet, all the way back to the canopy. The air was thick, and heavy, and felt like a huge weight on Adieumus. There was probably more oxygen here than where ever he was previously, if he could remember where that was...
He began to take a step away from the smoldering hulk, lucky to be alive, and well, when he heard a roar behind him, and the thundering steps of a large life form. A massive red dinosaur, with huge, sharp teeth stomped its way toward the crash site. The noise had drawn its curiosity, and now, Adi was going to be its next meal. Looking up to the massive 20 foot tall beast, Matango slowly began backing away, never taking his eyes from the creature. The mouth of the monster was a gaping maw, a canyon of rows upon rows of razor sharp teeth. Wondering what to do, Adieumus almost began to panic. How fast was this creature? Did it have anything that was hidden, or have fire breath, or anything like that? Fear began creeping over him, and he almost turned to run...
It was then that a strange tingling feeling passed over his body. He felt the warmth, the glow, of an energy that he didnt understand, yet knew its familiarity. It was as if he had done this a million times before, but still, he could not remember it. He decided to go with it, and dug deeper. He began to glow, and the wind began to howl. The ground began to shake, and rocks started to levitate off the ground near him. Adi's eyes grew darker, more menacing, and his mouth curled into a sneer. He felt the power building to some unknown end, the strength in his body exponentially growing, and manifesting itself in his hands....
The dinosaur-like creature lunged in at Matango. With a sudden burst of unexpected speed, Adi dodged to the left, and the monster got simply a mouthful of dirt and rocks. With a roar, it sat back up, and turned to where Adi had dodged, and ended up. Matango was glowing with a dull blue light, one that seemed to be expanding more and more as Adi delved deeper into this unknown territory. With an extension of his arms, and cupping his hands together, Matango exploded with a beam of white energy, tinged blue from his aura, directly into the face of the onrushing dinosaur. The beam struck the creature, and almost vaporized the entire head, and shoulder area. The beam continued to travel into the sky, and into the cosmos beyond...
What the HELL was that??
This was the thought that raced through Adieumus' mind. How did he DO that? What kind of monster was HE? He looked at his hands, still glowing from the burst of power that was released. For the few seconds that he was firing the beam, it was like he knew everything that he now again forgot. The blank slate that was Adieumus Matango was now further confused. He felt like there was a reason he was here, but he did not know why. His mind was a blank.
Trying to re-create the moment, Adi attempted to draw the power back to him that he had so easily wielded not a minute ago, but to no avail. It must have been the adrenaline rush he got from the fear he felt at the appearance of the creature. Adieumus dropped to his knees, and slammed his fists into the ground repeatedly. The frustration of not knowing who he was, where he came from, even if there was anyone that was close to him...it was driving him slowly insane. His mind, completely empty of conscious knowledge, was destroying the very fabric of sanity holding him together.
Perhaps there was someone here on this world that could explain exactly who he was.
Standing up, and feeling the cool breeze blow in off the mountains, Adi began to walk south, in the direction of the town he saw in the distance. Perhaps there was someone there that could help him learn what he so desperately needed to, or at least point him in the direction of someone that could. If not, the town was bound to have a bad day..*
